  • Following our decision not to organise time trials in 2023 we have decided to run a series of internal competitions. Participants, both competitors and as organisers will be entered in a draw for a prize such as a voucher from a local cycle shop.
The first competition for 2022 is the January Kickstarter - a Strava-based mileage competition.

  • We are sad to report that following poor participation from our members and from private entrants from other clubs in 2022 it is no longer sustainable for us to organise our own TTs. We cannot ask timekeepers and sign marshals to turn out when there may be only three competitors.

We remain affiliated to CTT and BC to that our members can participate in events these organisations sanction.

  • The first of our time-trial league events takes place on Wednesday 4th May on the A10 (South) course. First rider off at 19:30 but please be at the start by 19:00 to collect your number.

The event is open to any member of a CTT registered club. Entry fee is £5.00.

  • Belgian riders, especially Flandrians, have a reputation for relishing foul weather - the wetter, colder and windier the better. Which Wheelers best channel their inner Flandrians?

  • This is our last competitive event of the season. All you have to do is ride for 1.23 km whilst climbing 60m. Come on! That's only 5%! You may not win but it's fun to see how fast you can go - and of course if you're in it you get bragging rights over everyone who isn't.

The event is at Digswell - there is a map here https://www.herts-wheelers.org.uk/racing/tt-courses/hillclimb.

  • Wheelers' Club 10 28th July, F20/10

  • First rider off at 19:31. Entry is online only!

  • Old Skool TT this Sunday

This is a 10 mile TT but without aerodynamic aids - so no pointy helmets, tri-bars, deep section wheels etc. Some riders go the whole hog and turn up on vintage bikes. Others go further by actually ageing themselves. It's a relaxed event but there is a club trophy to be won!

  • Next club TT is on Wednesday 7th June

This event is on the F10/10 (A10 North) course. First rider off at 19:31.

  • Next Wheelers 10 mile TT

Next Wednesday 2nd June, 19:30 on the F20/10 (A10 South).

  • The Wheelers' summer Wednesday evening club runs are starting again on 19th May. We are hoping for some nice warm summery evenings!

  • Resurfacing work is scheduled on the A414 which means we cannot use it for the event we planned for 19th May. We are hoping to move to the Cole Green Course (FX4/10). However, we need to have this change agreed by the police so we cannon confirm it at present.

Look out for further news on this.

  • With the CTT authorising events from 29th March and, we hope, some prospect of a full season, we have published our programme of Club TTs. These events are free to members and are open to members of CTT-affiliated clubs for a fee of £5. Some events are marked as "Come and Try". These are available to anyone whether or not they are members of a CTT affiliated club.

Please note that special COVID procedures are in place!

  • With the lock-down rules changing on Monday 29th March the rule of six will return. However, following negotiations between Sport England and the Government, organised outdoor sports will be exempt from this limit.

  • Wheeler Jonny Spowart completed his grueling 24 hour challenge in aid of the charity "Head for Change". The ride took place on 6th and 7th March, 12 hours each day, 8am-8pm, and was completed on a Turbo trainer using the Zwift software. Jonny had to overcome some difficult moments but rode 780 km to smash his fundraising target with over £2,900 raised.

  • Bill first joined the club in 1977 and was made a life member in 2015. Many will remember him as a kind and always considerate companion on club runs. Bill often gave up his time to help the club including, most recently, refurbishing club race signs each winter. He was active in several local causes and organised a number of charity events.

  • Head for Change

Jonny Spowart bill be attempting a 24hr Zwift ride on 6th and 7th March. 12 hours each day. 8am-8pm. Head for Change is a new charity, pioneering positive change for brain health in sport and supporting ex-players who are affected by neurodegenerative disease as a result of their career playing football or rugby".
