Christmas is now passed and, if you're anything like me, you will have over-indulged. 2023 is here and with it the first HWCC competition of the New Year; the January Kickstarter.
Winter miles equal summer smiles. The sooner we all get out on our bikes the better. So, what do you have to do to kickstart your 2023?
Well, the 2023 January Kickstarter competition is based on our current Strava mileage competition but this time it is sponsored by Highway Cycles in Hertford. If you aren't already registered for the Strava mileage competition then you can do so here. If you have any questions about this competition, then either message Sam directly on Slack or email him at competition@herts-wheelers.org.uk.
As you can imagine, the winner of the competition is the rider who has accrued the highest outdoor mileage. Road bike, mountain bike , e-bike, unicycle; if you're riding outdoors then log it on your Strava account and make those miles count.
Of course, winter is a demanding time for your bikes so the winning rider and the other 9 riders in the TOP TEN at the end of the competition will be entered into a prize draw to win a bike service with Highway Cycles.
1st prize is a 'Silver service' and 2nd and 3rd prizes are a 'Bronze service'.
Bronze Service (usual price £60) is:
- Full overall inspection of the bicycle
- Check and adjust tyre pressures
- Check and set gears
- Check and set brakes
- Tighten any bolts or fittings
- Report any additional work required
Silver service (usual price £120) is:
- Everything included in the Bronze Service and additionally:
- Drivetrain degrease
- Hydraulic brakes bled
- Wheels trued
The 3 winners will be chosen at random once the competition closes. The service voucher(s) will be valid for 3 months from the date of issue so it'll be perfect timing to get your bike checked over following a winter of bad roads and inclement weather. Remember, there are only 10 places available for the prize draw, so you've gotta be in it to win it!!
Good luck brave Wheelers!
