Category 6 ride led by Carolyn Kelleway
As everyone gathered at the start in Hertford there was a low mumbling about length of ride but mostly about HILLS! For once I had taken the route from the ride GPS site so abdicated all responsibility.
So 7 adventurers set off for Wheathampstead on a beautiful day.
Weather was good but the roads certainly were not. Non-stop pot holes, gravel and puddles. But amazingly not a mechanical was had. Thank goodness.
As anticipated there were a few nasty bumps to traverse which everyone loved. No swearing - we miss you Tony!
We safely arrived at the Brewhouse, which was very busy but we all got fed and watered - much needed.
Off we set uphill again! The ride leader had reassured everyone that the route back was less hilly. Mmmm, never listen to her. More and more hills kept coming but in true Wheelers fashion everyone made it and all smiles at the end.
On the return route two very helpful riders did their bit for the community by helping a distressed lady close her boot. Didn’t seem that difficult to be honest - they just pressed a button but we all felt good about ourselves.
Although the route was a challenge the final downhill from Brickenden was much appreciated.
Lovely ride everyone.
