You and your bike

You

  • Drinks bottles and food or energy bars are essential on most rides.

  • It is recommended to have eyewear, track mitts or gloves, a mobile phone, and some cash for refreshments.

  • It is recommended you wear a helmet.

  • Check the weather before you set out and bring lights, and wear or bring high visibility and waterproof clothing as appropriate.

  • Carry emergency contact details and consider how you would get home in an emergency. See below.

Your bike

Try to be self-sufficient and to ensure that their bike is in a well-maintained condition.

  • It is recommended to have a pump, tyre levers, spare inner tube, puncture repair kit and to be able to deal with punctures and minor repairs while out on rides.

  • You may also consider bringing a chain tool, Allen keys, a spoke key, plasters and a bandage.

  • Check your bike before you set out, paying particular attention to brakes, wheels and tyres, the chain, steering and gears.

  • Mudguards are recommended in wet weather for your benefit and for the benefit of those riding behind you.

  • Tyres with a sensible level of puncture protection should be used. Frequent punctures spoil the ride for the whole group.

Emergency contacts

Please carry your emergency contact details with you on all rides, along with any essential medical information, either on your phone or on a card or paper.  We also recommend using the what3words location app - what3words location codes are accepted by all emergency services.

We are considering getting medical ID blank cards for the members. If you are interested/would prefer a physical medical ID card, please contact Tony Dos Santos.

How to enter your medical ID on your iPhone: Open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then tap "Medical ID" and "Edit" to add your information and emergency contacts, ensuring "Show When Locked" is enabled for easy access in an emergency.

How to enter your medical ID on your Android: Open the "Safety app," sign in to your Google Account, tap "Your info," and then add your medical information and emergency contacts, ensuring "Show on Lock screen" is enabled.

To install what3words on your phones, type what3words into either the playstore (on Android) and on the Apple App Store, once again type what3words.
