Category 6 ride led by Tony Dos Santos
Ware was the meet place. As I sat there in my car, somewhat weary and tired, I got out, legs aching, body screaming from a sportive the day before, I had to rely on my mental agility to get me through this ride. Obviously with my mental agility not being brilliant, I wasn’t convinced my body could endure the ride.
It’s the middle of September and the forecast was 20°C; wow, you might think. However the forecast was rain from 2 pm onwards. Seven riders turned up; a plethora of other riders were also sitting there, raring to go on other categories. We left at 9.32, I know, somewhat tardy of me. Luckily at the gate Carolyn didn’t crash as she had bought herself some new fancy cleats that others had also purchased.
Riding along and PP (Puncture Pete) advised he rode the same route a couple of days ago, albeit to Hatfield Forest, rather than Thremhall Park. We rode through some lanes, yada, yada, yada. No punctures on the route out and we had a little headwind, yet we were still riding at a good pace.
We got to Thremhall at 11.03, a tad tardy once again, due to leaving two minutes late. Once again fabulous service and we were in and out in thirty minutes. A nice chat at the tables and we were off. The route back was very fast with a tailwind and Martin Phillips leading us at a good steady pace.
We got back in on Allenbury's at 1 pm, which is amazing for the 6’s. All in all a great ride with an average speed of 13.8 mph. Thank you all for coming.
