Welwyn Track League - 21st June - Two wins for Brian

Brian was at the track on his own as Tony was saving himself for the Club Open 10 Time Trial. 
As usual the first event was the scratch race. A few early attacks came to nothing. With a lap and a half to go Brian was monitoring the situation about 20 metres behind the leader when Renato Davis came past at speed on a mission.  Realising that this was an opportunity to be taken up Brian jumped to get on Renato's wheel, which was quite hard as he was going quite fast.  The pair cruised past most of the field into the last lap. They passed the leader then, in to the final turn, Brian hit the gas went past Renato and kept going flat out to take the win.  Renato got caught by one rider and finished 3rd.
The "Hare and Hounds" was next. Three women riders were given half a lap lead and the men had to chase them working as a team.  The team work of the women was exemplary but the men destroyed themselves about 4 laps into the race and 2 of the women stayed away.
In the "Devil" Brian rode near the front for the first few laps as people were eliminated. They were down to 6 and with 2 being eliminated each lap the last four would be into the sprint lap.  Brian made it into the last 4 and found himself at the front a bike length or two ahead of the rest so he decided to go from ¾ of a lap out. He made sufficient space to ease off in the final straight to win for the second time that evening!
He decided not to ride the 10 miler but was very pleased with his evenings racing!
