Cat 6 run led by Bob B
I had never heard the word “redacted” until the Americans started using it in connection with removing names or information from reports etc after 9/11. I shall be using it a couple of times in this ride report!

13 set off from Allenburys to be joined en route by regular latecomer [name redacted] to make an even 14. All went well as we rode out via Holly Cross Lane, Stanstead Abbots, Widford and Perry Green, and then regular sufferer of mechanicals [name redacted] discovered another way of breaking down. A failed freehub this time, and after being pushed for a couple of miles by the combined efforts of Cube and Captain Bob, the offender was left to await pick up by the broom wagon.
A consequence of this was that [name redacted] and [name redacted] had gone zooming off the front and missed a vital left turn. Clubrun Rule 1 was invoked and the pair were left to find their own way. They did eventually turn up late at The Village Tearooms, but were made to sit in the naughty corner.
I forgot to mention that all this had happened whilst it was raining. Mercifully the rain stopped whilst we were enjoying our grub, but what replaced it was probably worse – a persistent and cold headwind all the way back via Sheering, Sawbridgeworth, Allens Green and then back the way we had come out. Some very tired Wheelers by the end! But NO punctures, despite the presence on the ride of [name redacted]      Captain Bob

Cat 5 ride led by Mark T
It was a ride of two halves with only myself Lee, Jonathan,  and then joined by Peter. We set off from Hertford in a northerly direction towards Buntingford using the old fast 40 route because they are good fast roads.
As we started there was a light drizzle in the air which wasn't too bad to start with but it soon became heavier and by the time we got to the Café in Buntingford all four of us looked like we had gone for a swim with our bike instead of riding them.  However the café staff welcomed four very wet wheelers with open arms and made us feel very welcome with the usual good service they give. We were fed and watered with tea & coffee in no time and even started to dry off a little! It stopped raining and started to dry up as we made our way back through Hare street towards Puckeridge then the old A10  towards Ware.  We all split up at Ware with Peter making his way back home and we headed back towards Harlow via Stanstead Abbots. It was a good quick ride with no mechanicals. Thanks for the 3 who joined me - it was a wet but pleasant bike ride
