Cat 3 run led by Graham K
It was a blustery day! Enough to propel us to at high speed across the heights between Buckland and Barkway. Enough to bring us nearly to a halt between Berden and Stocking Pelham on the way back. Ian P's crash bore witness to the high speed bit when he misjudged a bend; new longs and probably some new skin needed. Between the high and low speed bits the café in Chishill popped up and provided us with soup and bread plus cake and a drink - all for about a fiver. Enjoyed by all I think. Thanks to Peter B for looking after our rear end.

12 brave souls headed out from base camp Allenburys in what must have been at least a force 9 wind. ( I'm no sailor so picked random number) . We headed out towards cold Christmas where we were joined by Bruno on his new flying machine. He had made his way to Hertford believing the ride started there today, then turned round and raced back to catch us up. The general consensus was that they must have thrown in some new legs and lungs when he bought the bike as he was off the front all day. New bike new Bruno!.
We arrived at our Buntingford stop in good time. For some reason a few of our members decided to sit outside in the gale force winds when there were plenty of seats inside in the warm. As we prepared to leave the cafe the discussion turned to Phil the powers new super dooper, high pressure, hand/ foot pump with pressure gauge. He assured us that it was as they say " the dogs" . 10 miles down the road he got to prove it when Phil and his trusty new gadget came to the rescue. Lee's rather less impressive pump failed to inflate two tubes and Phil along with super pump saved the day. This he accomplished in the humble, un- I told you so manner that we'd all expected. What a hero! ......Until it was noticed by Franco that super pumps power had blown out the side wall of Mary's tyre and it was back to square one, or maybe 2. We were soon on our way again and despite the headwind made it back to HQ in good shape.
Good ride, good company and a good laugh.
