Cat 3 run led by Peter B
A good turnout on a sunny (but cool) day saw 15 of us set out for Saffron Walden. Out through the Hadhams, Berden, Ugley and Widdington we stuck to mostly quiet roads before arriving at a very busy Bicicletta cafe. Three made their own way back and, refreshed, the remaining 12 headed back via Arkesden (scene of a minor unseating of two riders - but no serious injuries), Clavering, Hare Street, Puckeridge, Wadesmill to Ware. A moderately hilly 53 miles with no problems.
Cat 8 (MTB) led by John Farnham
Our first off road club run of the year drew only 3 riders for the route to Puckeridge via Poles Lane, Thundridge Old Church, Youngsbury, Buckney Wood, Bakers End, Kettle Green (where we briefly met Tim & Angela D en route to Ardeley), Brand's Farm, Much Hadham, Standon Lodge Farm, Standon to Something Lovely Tea Room. The place was almost completely full with a big group of cyclists from the Islington CC but after a certain amount of negotiation we managed to squeeze around a small table at the front. Return was via Standon, Colliers End, Old Hall Green, Moorfield Common, Sacombe Green, Sacombe Park, Stonyhills, Rickneys Quarry, Bengeo, Ware Park back to Ware.
32 miles.
Cat 5 led by Mike East
A routine ride to Codicote via Archers Green out and Ayot St Peter back. No mishaps, 13 riders, 33 miles.
