Category 3 ride led by Graham Knight
A nice sunny September day and a pleasant ride, much of it over the flat-lands of Essex. We welcomed back Augirdas Panka after a long absence. He and his spectacular Cinelli were both in good working order.
There were some hard stretches on the way out when the easterly headwind made its presence felt, but we made good time to the fabled Norton Heath Café. If I were to be churlish I would say their service was a little down on my last two visits; this time I had to nurse my mug of tea for nearly a full minute before my bacon sandwich arrived. I have divined the secret of their lightning-fast service - they don't have a coffee machine! If the time UK citizens spent in queues waiting for these machines to disgorge something drinkable we're spent on more productive activities who knows what riches would descend upon us.
Anyway, suitably refreshed, we enjoyed the tail wind on the way back, survived Stonards Hill and made good time back to Ware
