Category 6 ride led by Tony Dos Santos
Today’s forecast was windy and wet. Nonetheless five trusty riders turned up. Two real Kevins, one Ian, one David and one Tony. We are the famous five. Does that include Timmy the dog? Who knows!
We set off at exactly nine - Carolyn, who couldn’t be with us today, would have been most happy. We aimed straight to the Hill Climb competition climb, but at the last moment we got slowed down before the roundabout and I’m sure this added at least a minute to our time! Up we went and I thought I was going up the hill really quickly until Ian sauntered straight past me. Damn!
We turned left into Pest House Lane and up the hill. After a few miles we got to Barleycroft End and, boom, Kevin Ellis had a puncture. Ian wanted to show off his tyre glider, but as Kevin had nice big tyres, we didn’t really need it. Inner tube changed in seconds and we were off. Well, it took about twenty minutes.
We got to Mill End by eleven, and there was still Bakewell. We had a chat and a bit of banter and then decided to leave the kind ladies at Mill End. The next 20 miles whizzed by and before we knew it we were back in Ware.
Sorry, I forgot if anything happened in the second part of the ride as I wrote this on Thursday in my car and not on the throne. Over and out.
