Bike maintenance evening - Campbell comes to the rescue!

Rob Godfrey of Marshall's Cycles had to cancel at the last moment. Undaunted, Peter W took himself to Hertford where Campbell Rae was putting the finishing touches to the new branch of Highway Cycles , due to open on Saturday. Campbell very kindly agreed to give up his evening and step into Rob's shoes.
About 16 members enjoyed an evening that was both entertaining and informative. Campbell covered brake and gear adjustment and left us in no doubt as to the desirability of barrel adjusters and his disdain for modern practice which sometimes omits these. He went on to answer questions about; wheel strength (and Jasons spokes); mixing and matching of gearing for those of us inclined to be challenged by inclines; cleaning and lubricating bikes; and chain maintenance (buy cheap chains and change frequently).
All in all an excellent evening. Why not go along and see Campbell himself on Saturday? The new shop is close to our Hertford club run assembly point near the new Sainsburys.
